Dragonball/Z/Gt
Frequently Asked Questions
A collection
of frequently asked questions and rumors about Dragonball/Z/GT. Please read...I
guarantee you will learn something!
Q: I keep
hearing about a series called Dragonball AF. Does it exist? A:
Yes, Dragonball AF does exist. However, it is nothing more than fan art and
fan fiction. Akira Toriyama and TOEI Animation have nothing to do with the series
whatsoever. Whatever pictures you may come across are fan-made only, as AF is
not an official series. Episodes of AF will never be made, and levels such as
SSJ5 do not officially exist. Episode #64 in GT is the last one of DBZGT.
Q: What are the 'Lost Episodes' of GT? A:
Once again, #64 is the last episode of GT. These 'Lost Episodes' are in fact
the Original 1-16, which Funimation skipped. Apparently they thought fans would
get the wrong impression of GT if they started dubbing with these, so they skipped
ahead to the more Z-like #17-64. Note that these episodes are not really 'lost',
only misplaced by FUNi.
Q: Is there
a lost Movie #14? Or DBZ OVA? A:
No, there is not. What is rumored to be an OVA is in reality a three-part series
from a Playdia game, Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetzu Kekaku (The Plan to Eradicate
the Saiyans). This 3-part 'movie' was later released in Japan on VHS. It is
unknown whether FUNi plans to dub this and release it.
Q: I heard Goku has a mother named Tanippu? Is this true? A:
This is 100% false. Apparently in some fan fiction this character was invented,
and the rumor spread, however she does not exist in the series. Like AF, this
has become a very widespread rumor (In addition, Vegeta's mother does not exist
either). This topic has never been brought up in the manga or anime, not even
in the Bardock movie.
Q: I heard Akira Toriyama died in a car crash?! A:
Another false rumor made up by some idiot. He is alive and well in Japan, living
with his family. He still does character designs for Dragon Quest and occasional
interviews.
Q: Do fusions such as Gogetenks and Vegetrunks really exist? A:
No, Gogetenks (Gogeta + Gotenks) and Vegetrunks (Vegeta + Trunks) are actually
in the same category as Dragonball AF - fan fiction. In addition, SSJ5(+) is
fake too. The only Saiyan Fusions are Gotenks, Vegitto, and Gogeta.
Q: Are there 291 Episodes of DBZ? or 276? A:
It depends. The original Japanese episodes totaled to 291. However, in the Pioneer
dub of episodes 1-53 (jap. 1-67), 14 episodes-worth of scenes were cut. FUNimation
later cut one in the Freeza saga as well (episode of Freeza brutally injuring
Krillen). To find the Japanese number of any episode after English 67, just
add 15.
Q: Is Freeza's and Cooler's race really called changelings? A:
Again, this is false. I assume this is another fan-made term, but there is no
mention of the term 'changelings' In any episode, movie, or daizenshuu.
Q: Is there really a GT special? A:
Yes there is. Goku Gaiden, Yuki no Akashi wa Sushinchuu
(Proof of Courage is the Four-Star Ball) is the title, and it documents Goku
Jr's search for courage and the four-star ball to save Grandma Pan. A very heartwarming
movie, FUNi will probably dub it when they are finished with GT, but that is
not guaranteed as of yet.
Q: Whose cells did Cell contain? Was he a Super Saiya-jin? A:
Usually, no two sites have the same opinion on this one. Here is the exact list:
Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Krillen, Piccolo, Tienshinhan, Nappa, Freeza, King Cold.
No, Trunks was not included. In addition, Cell actually WAS a Super Saiya-jin.
He is one every time he has a yellow aura. Cell reaches SSJ2 when he comes back
after destroying the kai planet and Goku (obvious from the sudden blue electricity
which all SSJ2 share).
Q: Who is the strongest Human (Not counting Ubuu)? A:
Contrary to popular belief, the answer is Tien. He came into the series stronger
than Krillen, and stayed that way. Krillen arguably may have surpassed him in
the Frieza saga, but with an extra year of training at King Kai's, Tien probably
made up the difference. (In DB, he seemed to benefit more from training, constantly
staying stronger than Krillen, so that information supports this idea.) In addition,
Krillen stops training after the Cell Saga, and Tien keeps at it. Therefore,
Tien is clearly stronger.
Q: Why does Tien have three eyes? A:
It's actually to represent his enlightenment. That particular place on the Human
body---where Tien's third eye is---is a chakra from which power can be derived,
according to some Chinese philosophies. It is also where the third eye that
supposedly all beings have resides. Through training and meditation, Tien has
managed to make that third eye manifest itself physically.
Q: When did everyone learn to fly before DBZ? I know they couldn't when
Dragonball started.. A:
Goku - Training with Kami
Krillen and Yamcha - Learned it from Tien
Everyone else came into the series knowing how
