First
off, Cute News is a program used to report news. It's a script that people use
for them to make updating easier. With cute news, all you have do is install
the script onto your FTP and follow a few steps. Though the task may be simple
after a few tries, it can get really really complicated after a while. So let's
start off.
Step One:
You first have to get the Cute
News script, something you can download off cutephp.com. After
you download the script, you must extract the files because when you download
it, it's going to come as a .rar file. If you don't have WinRar, you can get
it from download.com here.
You just click download now and install the software.
Step Two: After you extract the files, you have to open up your FTP
file. In order for Cute News to work, you must have a program to upload the
files onto your server. You also must have a program that is able to CHMOD,
and the best option is smartFTP,
which you can download by clicking the link.
Step Three: Once you've got your files and your FTP and you're logged
in, simply make a directory where you want the news to be. You can name it "news"
or "cute news". Once the directory is made, upload your files from
the folder to the server. Your best bet is dragging and dropping the files to
upload it, because if you simply grab the whole file and drop it into the forum
your news will be under two directorys. So instead of having youwebsite.com/news
it will be yourwebsite.com/news/cutenews..get it?
Step Four: Once you have everything uploaded, CHMOD everything in the
data folder to 777. Go into the folder and make sure every file under the data
folder is chmoded. This is a very important step in the process!
Step Five: If everything is in order, simply go to yourwebsite.com/news/index.php
and follow the steps from then on!
Step Six: From here on, you can customize the way you want your news,
and to include them, just put the php where you place the news:
